House of Oldies was established – and is still run – by Jan Karlin, who is a well-known name in collector circles
The store has been located at the same address, Torsgatan 63 in Stockholm, since April 1994. But the story actually began on the other side of the globe.
Ironically, it all started with Jan selling off his entire record collection to be able to afford to travel the world. In Auckland, New Zealand, he visited a record store and stumbled by chance on a gold mine with prices that were almost too good to be true. After a call home to arrange a loan and two days of sorting, Jan had selected 800 records that were shipped by boat to Sweden. The House of Oldies had built its foundation!
Where regulars and new collectors meet
Today, almost 30 years later, House of Oldies is a natural meeting place for everyone who loves vinyl from the 50s, 60s and 70s. We are happy and proud to have many regular customers, as well as new collectors who find their way to our store.
We buy and sell individual copies as well as entire collections. Over the years, we have bought the largest collections in Sweden, regardless of genre. We have also purchased two of the largest collections ever for sale in the United States. We are one of only two stores in Sweden that are appointed Inspectors issued by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce.
In our store you will find a unique and rich selection of 50’s rock’n roll, rockabilly, blues, jazz, country and bluegrass. We also have a large number of records in various genres from the 60’s and 70’s. Feel free to visit us to take a look at what we offer, or to just chat about music in general.
Welcome!
Best wishes from Jan Karlin
